“How much time do you expect the interviews will take?”

I know no one wants to say ‘It depends,’ especially when you are the new one, but it’s often the right answer.

‘IT DEPENDS’

  1. What’s the recruitment for interviews process like?

1. Who will send you the DATABASE of the participants (assuming you already know the criteria for ‘who the participants for interviews are)? 1.2. How fast that person will send you this information?/ Or maybe you are the one who needs to gather that info from a specific place? Do you need access? Who will grant it to you? Really, it could be anything!
1.3. How will you contact the participants? Do you need to reach out to them individually, or is someone else in charge of this task? If someone else is responsible, how long does it typically take to get the necessary contact information?
1.4 Do you need to seek permission from various stakeholders before conducting interviews, and if so, how long does it typically take to obtain this permission?

(above: not necessarily in order)

2. How many people will you interview?

How many groups should we plan for? By the way, I highly recommend booking 3 to 4 extra people per group just in case someone cancels the interview. In the best-case scenario where everyone participates, you can always cancel the additional bookings and offer any benefits as needed.

3. The duration of the interviews

4. DEBREIFING:
One tool that has saved my life so far is dovetail app. Seriously! Makes my debriefing time so smooth. But let’s say (depending on how long your interviews have been) it will take some hours to Highlight Insights, and patterns + put them on your canvas (miro, mural).

5. AFFINITY MAP:
Again, that depends on how many interviews you you have.

6. Report building:
Again.. It depends.

IMPORTANT: It also depends if you are working by yourself or if you have more people in your team that will help you.
